Preventative dental care is maintaining good oral hygiene and putting steps in place to ensure your teeth and gums are kept healthy. By doing so, it can help in preventing dental problems before they arise. This includes attending regular dental check-ups, cleanings and keeping-up with your daily oral hygiene routine, which should always include brushing and flossing! A critical component of this is ensuring you attend your regular dental check-ups (every 6 months is the recommendation). These visits will help our dentists detect any issues early on, allowing for prompt treatment and prevention of further damage. Poor oral health has been linked to numerous health problems and by taking care of your teeth and gums, you can reduce your risk of this occurring.

During these visits one of our dentists will perform a comprehensive oral examination to check signs of decay, gum disease and other dental problems. If recommended, they might also take x-rays to detect problems that aren’t visible to the naked eye. To finish off your appointment, you will also receive a professional clean (polish & fluoride included), to help give that extra bit of protection for your teeth!
